Support for CSSDP's www.not4me.org

Wednesday, May 12, 2010 | |

Hey!

On Tuesday April 13, 2010, Canadian Students for Sensible Drug Policy (CSSDP) launched our response to the federal government's 'Drugs not4me' campaign.  Despite the success of community initiatives around Canada that focus on open dialogue and honest information, the current government has put forth a dishonest and inadequate youth drug education strategy out of political interests rather than concern for the wellbeing of Canadian youth.

CSSDP created www.not4me.org , a drug education website based on honest information, open dialogue, and which also provided harm reduction tips.  Our resource provides young Canadians tools and strategies on how to make safe, responsible choices for themselves. To launch the website, CSSDP members took to Parliament Hill, and met with Members of Parliament from all parties to discuss the need for the federal government to support honest drug education strategies which aim to prevent problematic substance use.

We have already received great support from MPs, community workers, students, parents, young people, old people, and everyone in between!  We need to build on this momentum, in order for the government to see that you support honest, open youth drug education strategies.  There are two easy ways for you to show your support:

-       Spread the word!  Tell your friends, families, co-workers, and more about www.not4me.org.  Post a link to www.not4me.org on your website and/or on your social media networks. Follow us on twitter (twitter.com/cssdp) We need you to tell the world that you care about honest drug education strategies that aim to prevent problematic substance use for young people.

-       Endorse the website!  We need your endorsement for www.not4me.orgWe need your organization's endorsement too!  Your endorsement will also be of great help in pursuing funding to support the development of www.not4me.org.  Along with your endorsement, it would be great if you would provide a statement indicating why you support honest, open youth drug education and how you plan on utilizing CSSDP's resource. If you and/or your organization is interested in providing an endorsement, please contact caleb@cssdp.org

For the launch, CSSDP held a media conference at Parliament Hill.  check out the videos here:
